We are born into a broken world. The world in which we live is - TopicsExpress

We are born into a broken world. The world in which we live is not what God planned for us. Who had the power to change what God imagined in His heart? If God did plan a better world for us, who or what had the power to thwart the creator? What could possible influence things to turn out so differently than God had in mind? These are complicated questions. They are deep questions. Yet the answer is so very simple. Sin. When sin entered the world, everything changed. The Original Sin, in the Garden of Eden, was disobedience to God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, their fellowship with God was broken. And God’s perfect plan was thwarted. Sin is still disobedience to God. People today take the idea of sin far to lightly. We treat sin as a joke. We fail to understand or grasp how seriously God takes the matter of sin. Far worse than that, is the fact that we fail to teach our children to hate sin. The result is that they do not develop a proper understanding of how seriously God hates sin and how seriously He judges the individual sinner. Isaiah taught the people of Israel that sin separated them from God. “YOUR SINS ARE THE ROADBLOCK BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GOD. THAT’S WHY HE DOESN’T ANSWER YOUR PRAYERS OR LET YOU SEE HIS FACE.” (Isaiah 59:2 CEV) Parents, teach your children to hate sin. They need to know right from wrong and they need to know that choosing the wrong has serious ramifications. Sin puts a “ROADBLOCK BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GOD.” Good parents would not let their children play with matches, or with a razor blade, or with a wasp, saying, they must learn for themselves. Neither should they let their children play with sin. Teach that sin is disobedience to God and should be avoided. Our society is in danger because we have stopped teaching moral values. So many people have been afraid of offending others. Therefore we have stopped teaching right and wrong. The tragic result is that when our children choose wrong they do not understand that God is displeased. Most of our teaching is by the example we set. There is a reason so many young people do not hate sin. Theyve never seen that their mothers and fathers are bothered by sin very much. Parents, “...HATE WHAT IS EVIL; CLING TO WHAT IS GOOD. (Romans 12:9b NIV) If you do that, there is a good chance that your children will do the same thing.
