We are home. Star and I crashed out ALL evening at my moms. Just a summary for now of what I will post as soon as Zain lets me share the computer. Hes currently doing werewolf movie research ;) We feel his port is fine. The swellening has been subsided, and he has been back and forth with telling me it hurt and it better (??) At this point, Im thinking maybe hes been referring to when it did hurt. The ER doctor today was very thorough in his exam, and in explaining to me why they felt there was no infection or need for culture. Honestly, it did all make sense, and I left feeling ok about it. While there, before communicating with me about his ultimate suggestion, he coordinated with a Pediatric ICU physician from Roanoke Memorial Hospital, who is very familiar with ports and port infection symptoms. They feel certain that because there is no redness around the port area, no fever, the swelling has been subsided, hes been acting his typical self, and as he felt all about the port (somewhat vigorously) Zain showed no signs of it hurting, that his port is not infected... that maybe because of the way he hits his chest (but has done that for years...before we ever heard the word MPS) he may have bruised/irritated the area. This does all sit well with me at this point, so we will hope they are right! Wednesday is infusion day, and I will be hovered like the sky over him (during and after) looking for anything out of the norm. So, as it turns out, Ive included the details here from my phone, because Zain is not about to share the laptop any time soon ;) Thank you all for your concern and prayers
