We are in a Department of Housing property. 12months ago when we moved in, my son & I went and introduced ourself to our nearest neighbours, let them know if they had any problems ever they could feel free to come and speak with us and offered our mobile phone number. They gave us theirs in return. By Christmas time we exchanged Christmas cards which was nice. We phoned them when our smoke alarm went off & we couldnt turn it off to let them know our house wasnt burning down! We feel safe knowing they are next door, and I know they feel they could sing out if they have a problem!. They came to us a few weeks ago to let us know they were off on holidays. I came home today to this in the letterbox- what a lovely surprise - so nice they thought of us whilst away! If you dont know your neighbours, make the effort to at least be on talking terms. Its what builds community x
