We are in northern Kentucky tonight. As I was returning to the hotel I noticed a sign that said Find true comfort at the Country. We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites but we are next door to Comfort Inn. Of course, it is a play on words, but as soon as I read it this verse came to my mind: 1 Thess 4:18, Wherefore comfort one another with these words. As I walk and pray my heart is often burdened for the future of this nation and how it seems that unless the Lord returns to take us home, the Christians of this nation will suffer persecution. The comfort I find is not in this world but in the one that awaits all those who have trusted Christ as Saviour. You see, the Scripture says to comfort one another with these words. What were the words that would bring us this comfort? 1 Thess 4:16, For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. Now that is comfort! Our life on this earth is but a vapor. James 4:14 says, Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Even so, what a great comfort it is that vs 17 says so shall we EVER be with the Lord.
