We are making wonderful strides...backwards! 24th in the world among Western countries in math...and science. From the HuffPost: A report recently published by Harvard Universitys Program on Education Policy and Governance found that students in Latvia, Chile and Brazil are making gains in academics three times faster than American students, while those in Portugal, Hong Kong, Germany, Poland, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Colombia and Lithuania are improving at twice the rate. Were being beaten by Brazil and Slovenia! Yeah, this hasnt become a banana republic, right? And mark my words folks, the vast right-wing will blame this downfall in education on us! The fact that they are not fluent in English, put aside mathematics and science, they will still blame this breakdown on us! Us who want guns off the streets and in schools and US who want teachers to be paid PAR! Obama even specifically brought up this point in his last SOTUM...of course, falling on deaf ears.
