We are most grateful for and indebted to both Amal and George Clooney for their support for the return of the Parthenon Marbles. They are able to highlight this important case on the world stage as few people can. As a Greek and an Art Historian, having worked for the Committee for the Restitution of the Parthenon while at Oxford - (Now the Committee for the Reunification…) it is a cause especially important to me. They should be returned not because they are Greek or for reasons regarding how they were acquired etc.. these masterpieces belong to the WORLD heritage belonging to all - and they should be returned because it is in Athens, in our splendid new museum - that they can be best appreciated because they belong to the building - the Parthenon - and it is in correlation to this cultural treasure on the Acropolis hill that they must be seen.
