We are now able to confirm that the group in the van that crashed near Reporoa yesterday were visiting New Zealand on a school camp from Queensland, Australia. The group had walked the Tongariro Crossing and were making their way back towards Rotorua when the crash happened. The 36-year-driver and teacher, died along with a 16-year-old student. Another student is in a critical condition and the others have less severe injuries. Our thoughts are with all of those involved and we are continuing to work with the school to ensure that they get all of the support that need.
