We are now in the holidays and I wondered if we say Merry Christmas do we know the meaning of this season? Its about a season of profound love and compassion for your fellow man. I dont feel the love.....I see hate. Hate for another human being a different color. So, I went out in search of that trace of profound love. I did alittle experiment...I went to the store and there was a mother who was trying to buy food for herself and her two childern....now this mother didnt have steaks, shrimp, ribs etc. Things you and I dont buy with cash....she was trying to buy milk, eggs, cereal, chicken wings, beans, rice, potatoes. Things that a single mother would buy to stretch meals for her family. I know Ive been there. No cookies, ice cream, junk food. She checked out a head of me. Her small child asked for a candy bar...she said to him no I cant afford it the child looked so disappointed. My heart sank. As she stood and presented her EBT card she didnt have enough on it. So she started putting back items...cereal, eggs, chicken...she was embarrassed and tearful. I thought to myself Peggy you talk of love and kindness its time to show it. I told the cashier...No, put her entire order on my bill....she looked at me shocked and confused. She asked why? I told her there is so much hate right now because of MB, black against white....good against evil. You need to know there are people out here that dont think this way. I see you...not as white or black I see you as a mother trying hard to feed her childern, Christmas is a season for profound love for his fellow man....and I love YOU. She cried and the cashier cried....and the old man behind me said thats what Im talking about LOVE. And, yes I brought a crap load of candy for the kids! You see its not about you and I. Its about seeing past color, class and race. And LOVE if we all can achieve this and stop hating what we DONT understand? This city, community, world would be a better place. I found my Christmas, I found my hope. God Bless. My Thoughts.
