We are pleased to announce that we were the recipients of a grant for $15,000 from the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan this past Summer. The grant was awarded to support the ongoing development and marketing of our collaborative partner KONPAYs program the Alternative Charcoal and Clean Cook Stove program. The sight of thousands of alternative charcoal briquettes at the factory, produced from organic material, such as coconut husks, cant help but make us all proud and excited for the future! It is estimated that fully 80 % of all fuel energy consumed in Haiti is wood or traditional charcoal. The demand of over eight million people in Haiti for adequate fuel at an affordable price and not at the expense of the environment can no longer be ignored.
