We are running a special rider profile today, we are trying to get him as much visibility as we can to get him funding for Loretta Lynns this year. This is such a great read! thank you Sam and mom and dad for helping us do this. we will post his gofundme site in case you wish to donate. 5 bucks can go a long way....50/50 Sam McCord! 1. Age: 7 2. Hometown: Born in Hermiston, OR; but have lived in Northern Nevada most of my life 3. Current Town: Dayton, NV 4. Years Raced: 3 Years 5. Current Class: AMA class 4-6 19.1 50 cc; local tracks 50 Jr 6. Series Raced: REP Spring Series 2013, SMRA 2012 Spring and Fall Series 7. How old when you first started riding? racing? I was three when I started riding a quad by myself, and four when I got my first dirtbike. I raced my first race a month before I turned 5 in Battle Mountain, NV. 8. give us a few highlights of your career so far. Won the SMRA 50cc Beginner Class-Nevada State Champion in 2012 Won REP the Summer Night Series for the 4-6 class in 2013, placed first every race. I also got 2nd in the 50cc Open for that series :) REP Spring Series - FIRST in both the 4-6 and Open Classes. Dodge Nationals 2013- 3rd both the Stock and Mod classes. World Minis 2013 at Glenn Helen- 3rd in Mod. and 6th in the stock Placed first at the Area Qualifier in Honey Lake, CA and went to the Regional Qualifier in 2012 at Washougal- offered and alternate position at Loretta Lynns. Placed 2nd at the Area Qualifier in Turlock, CA and second at the Regional Qualifier at the Prairie City Track in Folsom, CA. I have made honor every semester since I began school. I have also been chosen as student of the month and received citizenship awards all four quarters last fall. 9. Gnarliest crash? My gnarliest crash was at Sand Pit last week (if you as me). I completely made my handle bars go down to the tank on my dirtbike. However, if you ask my mom and dad, they will tell you it was at the MMX track in Marysville, CA when I wadded up my bike so hard that I spidered the inside of my helmet and got a concussion. Mom didnt have Tylenol or Ibuprofen, I was in tears, it was a mess! I couldnt go to sleep, and had to ice my head. 10. funniest moment seen on track or trail? When Wyatt and I did the Little/Big Man race in Battle Mountain. We had to wear an Enormous pair of pink ladies underwear and carry an egg around the track, then after a lap we traded riders and they had to put on the bloomers. The first team around the track with an intact egg won. We would have won too, but Wyatt crashed and had the egg in the sleeve of his jersey so it splattered all over him!!!! Good times with great people. 11. plans for the future.... Go to Lorettas this year! I want to place like in the top 3, but we will see what happens. I want to start riding a 50 Senior next year, as well as, transition into riding a 65. Eventually I want to be a pro rider!!! 12. who do you look up to in this sport? role models? I look up to Parker Ross, because he is nice, fast, and hes my friend. I also look up to James Stewart because he is fast. Ryan Dungey is a terrific role model as well, he does so much for charity in his spare time. I like how he never has a bad word to say about anyone and exhibits good sportsmanship on and off the track. 13. list sponsors here, anyone who has helped or shout out or plug a company. Testa, Knobby Shop, Dunlop Tires, the Orr Family, Livfast, Grit Motorsports, the Mustang Ranch, Rolling Rock LLC, Lamson Racing, Modoc Motorsports Association, Silver State Arms, my Grandpa Chuck, and my MOM and DAD!!! It has been a totally amazing experience getting ready for Loretta Lynns this year. So many people/businesss have supported me. I feel that God has truly blessed me. 14. parting words: I want to be a person of honesty (telling the truth to others), integrity (being honest with myself even when nobody is watching), and work ethic. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “There are seven things that will destroy us: Wealth without work; Pleasure without conscience; Knowledge without character; Religion without sacrifice; Politics without principle; Science without humanity; Business without ethics.” I dont want to be destroyed, rather I want to be molded into an incredible individual, and I am not afraid to work for it. I will stand for my values and use my conscience, say my prayers and make sacrifices. Be a human of principles and humanity, and always do business using my ethics. Extra: Sams mom asking him questions for this profile (pretty funny) Some funny stuff.... When I asked Sam, Hey Dude, what are your future goals? He responded....Go to Disney World. Ummmmm, like for Motocross, Honey? Oh, you know, catch fireflies and squish their butts so I can write my name on my arm and watch it glow! Sam, no like on your dirtbike!!!! Oh, oh ya. I want to ride a bigger 50 and a 65. Someday I want to be a Pro Rider.
