We are still feeling that warm after-glow of our Family Reunion July 26-27 when at least 81 members of our big diverse tribe gathered on a sunny, breezy weekend near Steve & Carlyns orchard. We honored our uncle, Millard Hastay, who died recently at age 97, last remaining in our family of the greatest generation. Now we are it. Maybe not the greatest but on the whole, pretty good. July 26 was our granddaughter, Avas 4th birthday. I was speaking and when I mentioned Avas name, she came running, took my hand, while everyone sang Happy Birthday. Later, Ava attacked the pinata hanging from the willow tree in our yard. And the next day everyone who stayed over, drove up to Hurricane Ridge. We hiked up to Hurricane Hill, Joyce walking as normal as you please on her titanium knees. (she calls herself the bionic woman). Next day, the Jeff Redding family from Napa (some of them) came and had breakfast with us. We thank cousin, Frank Wheeler, from Toronto for suggesting this reunion. And we need to hold another reunion somewhere soon.
