We can absolutely defend our right to hold a different opinion - TopicsExpress

We can absolutely defend our right to hold a different opinion from another without feeling the need, or surrendering to the compulsion, to defend the actual opinion. We can also stand firm in our opinion without needing to make wrong a competing opinion. Opinions are just that. We all have them, and they often differ from one another. Where opinions are concerned, we cant really label them right or wrong. We can merely notice that we agree or disagree. It can be useful to explain briefly why we hold a different opinion than others, because it may enable another to better understand our rationale and/or feelings about a matter. On the other hand, we waste a lot of time and energy when we sink into arguing over whose holds the correct opinion, and who holds an incorrect opinion. Sadly, politics today involves a bunch of people arguing incessantly over who holds the correct opinion. We rarely accomplish much anymore because were not dealing with facts. Were dealing with feelings about opinions.
