We can accept the past without letting it control our actions in the present. It is just this, the present, which is important, this wonderful existential moment which is ours to claim and fill with meaning. Though we have been shaped in part by our past experience, we yet remain free to change and to grow. Taking an appraisal of the person we are and imaging the person we would want to be (and that God wills us to be), we can steadily move toward a realization of that ideal. Even though we are surely shaped by our past We can reach out "for what lies ahead." We can take hold of the future that God has promised us. Our lives is a story. And each of us will help to write that story! What will your story be Like?
