We can bend politics to our will. We just need to know what we want. My perspective comes as someone who protested the Vietnam war and the draft - and watched from afar as the Civil Rights fight was fought in the streets in the South. All of big media was against us, to start out with. Society was against us, to start out with. The big money was absolutely against us, to start out with. The FBI and J. Edgar Hoover were against all of us - to start out with. The main stream media and ignorant society at large, The Establishment, as we called it - eventually caved in to us. People need to remember that our country can work from the grassroots up, not just from the powerful and wealthy down. Today is no different than the 60s - in fact, we have much better tools for average people today- we have social media - and you saw in Turkey how it worked out when the government tried to shut up the people on social media.. Back in the 60s we stuck posters on telephone poles and could not afford to make long distance phone calls - and we still changed this country. How much more can we do today? Oh, baby. Get busy!
