We caught up with senior Sindre Johnsgaard, as he gets ready for the season to begin next Friday. LETU Tennis: How old are you? Sindre Johnsgaard: I am 23 years old. LETU: Where are you from? SJ: Kongsberg, Norway. LETU: Best memory of LETU tennis on court? SJ: Personally, for me the best memory was to beat UT Tyler in singles last year. As a team I would definitely say coming back from 1-4 against Ozarks last year and winning 5-4 is the best memory. LETU: Best memory of LETU tennis off court? SJ:Probably our Spring Break trip to St Louis my freshman year, where we did everything from going up in the Arch to playing indoor matches and also playing the outside in what has to be the coldest tennis match I have ever played. LETU: If you were not at LETU, where would you be? SJ: I would probably be in Norway, doing something a lot less enjoyable than playing tennis and going to school here. LETU: Who is your biggest fan? SJ: Definitely my Mom and grandparents LETU: How would you make tennis more spectator friendly? S: Shorter skirts for the girls, and no shirts for the guys. Just kidding. I think that a lot of people are bored at College tennis matches because it’s not like basketball, baseball etc where people can scream and shout and basically do whatever you want to do. I think that we need more live music, food and things going on outside the court to actually make it more spectator friendly. The game itself is flawless. LETU: Who has better taste in music, Coach Merritt or Coach Summers? SJ: Coach Merritt. LETU: And better taste in clothes? SJ: [chuckles] Coach Merritt, easy . LETU: And how about better taste in food? SJ: Coach Summers, he actually likes Roadhouse and would take us there. LETU: Who is your sports idol growing up, and to what extent have you stalked him/her? SJ: Andy Roddick. I have been a huge fan of him since I started watching tennis, and I don’t know if that qualifies as stalking, but I have had three presentations in school and wrote two papers about him. I also play with his racket and shoes, and I have tried to imitate his serve (with no success what so ever) LETU: How would you explain the movie inception in three sentences, or less, to an 8 year old child? SJ: I have never seen that movie. So I would probably just make something up. LETU: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would play the leading role? SJ: Ben Stiller; He’s an annoying goofball just like myself.
