We come out great! The western establishment using her situation to justify illegitimate wars, invasions, occupations and other military campaigns in the Middle East. Malala has and is now being used as a tool by the West, allowing countries like Britain to hide their crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq; It allows journalists to report a feel-good story whilst they neglect so many others, like the American drone strikes that terrorise men, women and children in Pakistans border regions. Lets not kid ourselves, there are hundreds and thousands of other Malalas who come from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other places in the world who are victims of the West. Conveniently we forget about them as politicians and journalists here fall over themselves on a false narrative which seemingly makes themselves look good. The war in Iraq not only robbed people like Malala of their education, but also their lives and livelihoods. The same journalists that failed to question the Western wars in 2003 are now singing the praises of Western intervention as they back Malala and her campaign, without putting it in context of the war in Afghanistan that destabilised the entire region thanks to the Western occupation of Afghanistan.
