We could go on and on with examples of how the current Opposition, next week’s government, has laboured over years to generate anxiety in the voting population. But I’m sure you can think of plenty of your own. The bottom line is that, by dint of relentless negativity, Tony Abbott’s opposition has convinced enough swinging voters that they have, in Frank Rizzo’s terms, been mugged over the past three years.
