We decided to take a last-minute family camping trip, so I missed a Haiti fact yesterday, so here are two: Day 21:The name Haiti means mountainous country in the language of the Taino Indians, native to Haiti prior to the discovery of Hispanola by Christopher Columbus in 1492 (everyculture). Day 22: Haiti was the second country in the Americas to free itself from colonial rule when it won independence from France in 1804 (Encyclopedia Britannica).
