We deeply regret to announce that, earlier today, a construction worker was involved in a fatal accident at the Rental Car Center construction site at San Diego International Airport. The worker was employed by Austin/Sundt Joint Venture, the contractor for the project. Airport Authority staff is working closely with the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. Construction has been halted until the cause of today’s event has been identified. Providing a safe environment for our passengers, employees and contractors is always our top priority. Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of everyone who works at or uses San Diego International Airport. All of us here at the Airport Authority are deeply saddened by this event and our thoughts are with those affected by today’s tragic accident.
