We do ask ourself why do i keep going back to it?? but i have promised not to Sin again?? God would not be happy with me anymore? First, ill say things that cause one to be tempted are bound to happen. You lingering on them cause them to overwhelm you. Again, the mind is the power source of all our actions, it process everything first bfore its been manifested. What you think is just what come forth in your actions. Thats why Jesus himself said it, ...thinking evil itself is same as doing it what am i saying in essence, learn to think right. For your life shall walk the path of your thoughts Some ungodly things may surge up your mind, thats bound to be, but you discarding them and not giving em a bit of staging. There youll triumph! The devil would get no chance to play his pranks, Cause one of his very tool of destruction is guilt, once you started feeling guilty of your wrong doings, and you put it so much on yourself that God is never happy wit you or dont Love you. There you have the devil dragging you off to death. For God is a just one, faithful and stand by His word! For if thou confess thy sins, I am faithful and Just to forgive all your unrighteousness He do not only forgive, but as well forget! Its just for you to as well forgive yourself and let the Holy spirit heal your wounded soul. And matter of fact, you thinking you are not forgiven is like saying, i dont care what Jesus did on the cross, i cant forgive myself of what i have done this brings disgrace to His glory. This makes his commitment and faithfulness to the cross worthless. We say it in the lords prayer, forgive us our sins as we forgive one and another (ie yourself and others) you need to know God loved us UNCONDITIONALLY not cause of our dids, doings or whats yet to be done, but cause he chose to and never will deviate from this. You have to understand this. Your mind is the very source of power; Keep it clean of guilt; Believe in God. Forgive yourself!:)
