We do things a little slower here on the farm. Most of our colts - TopicsExpress

We do things a little slower here on the farm. Most of our colts that we raise spend their entire lives out in pastures with other colts until it is time to start under saddle. They get herded up for vaccinations/ deworming, but little else until then. Our broodmares foal outside with little interference. You will see scratches, bite marks, dirty manes, and other imperfections while visiting. Heck, Im sure they all get kicked at one time or another. Our horses learn to be horses first. Our colts maybe behind compared to others under saddle, but we take our time. We do it ourselves for the most part. Maybe they get entered in the Futurity. Maybe not. Not everyone here is destined to be a reining horse and that is ok with us, because every horse can have a purpose and we arent so arrogant to think it must be one particular purpose all the time. Some take more time to develop. Thats ok, too. We do what we do because it keeps good horses more affordable, strong, healthy but most of all it works for our little farm. When the New Year arrives, it is important to review what works and what doesnt. I am very proud of Mike and our little horse operation. Come see us, sometime. Wed be happy to show you some nice horses and what works for us. Happy New Year!
