We, each and every one of us: whether European, Hispanic, Jewish, - TopicsExpress

We, each and every one of us: whether European, Hispanic, Jewish, Indian, Asian, African, Eskimo (have I left anyone out?) are ONE race of human beings. Someone, somewhere, no doubt, will find fault with this post, but before you do, please try to understand the intent of these words. They are intended to unite, not incite, to inspire, not divide. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one... Genesis 11:6. We are people. We are diverse. We all have value. God created us in His image and declared it: the people is one. Notice the verb is in that declaration is SINGULAR. Nothing about this has changed. Its time we stop allowing hate-mongers and race-baiters to stir us up and divide us because of a thing called diversity. Im glad everyone doesnt look like me, act like me, and think like me. Its time we start appreciating each other even when we disagree on a particular topic. We are people. We are all valuable from conception to natural death. Lets learn to celebrate, appreciate, and protect humanity and perhaps we will learn something about the divine. Believe it or not, I have circumnavigated this world carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ to PEOPLE. One thing that strikes me about my limited travels is this: no matter where you plant your feet on Terra Firma, there are PEOPLE for whom the LORD loves and sacrificed His only begotten Son to redeem. People are by nature sinners. None of us are exempt from that. Human atrocities are sadly very much a part of our collective history. That saddens my heart and certainly grieves Gods heart. That these atrocities continue is even more troubling, but we will NEVER eradicate sin from humanity by self-help methods. Jesus dealt a death blow to sin when He died on a cruel Roman cross. Yet, I am wearied to hear different groups cry out regarding things from the past, often a very distant past, expecting compensation for human atrocities committed by people long since laying in graves. Really? Shall we somehow summon the culprits from the grave and somehow make them fess up and pay up? Friend, justice is ultimately Gods business. Every PERSON will one day stand before God and be held accountable for his/her actions. What slips through the cracks of our system will not be forgotten in the end. Justice will be meted out by the King of kings and Lord of lords. Trust in this truth when our system of justice fails us. It will fail us because it is comprised of flawed human beings, most of whom try to do their best, but still fail at times because we are human. Lets learn to extend some grace to each other while still holding to a firm faith in God Almighty. Hes got this. With every story of another child being abused, murder committed, rape of a woman, incest of a relative, theft of property, corruption of officials, and so on and so forth ad nauseum, pray a little harder, love a little stronger, and draw a little closer to the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Each of us can do something to change the world: we can let the living Lord of creation make us a new creation by exercising saving faith in Jesus Christ and allowing Him to transform hatred to love, envy to respect, and evil to good. This is my Grown Up Christmas Wish for the world. I cant put it into lyrics so poetically like the song writer did, but I can let these words flow with the hope that someone, somewhere will be touched and perhaps changed by them. One race: humanity. One people: diversity. One God: divinity. With His help we can learn to get along better than we do and I hope we will. Amen!
