We go birding on weekends, sometimes even on weekdays and spend hours & hours in the field.. we observe birds, we take pictures, we post them in FB.. but what more ? Do we record our observations ? !!! We spend 15 mins to few hours editing the pictures before posting in FB or Flickr or any other forums, but cant we spend 10 mins to record our observations ? Why is recording your observations vital ? Posting in fb or flickr is going to just bring us few Likes or Comments. But if the observation is recorded in a common repository which can be used for research or even records of rare & threatened taxa of a particular birding hotspot may lead it to become an Important Bird Area(IBA). We have tools like eBird (ebird.org/content/ebird/) that help us report, track and manage our bird observations in an easiest way. Lets spend 10 minutes after our birding sessions for recording our observations. People who are new to eBird can refer this (https://docs.google/presentation/d/1PXh31n61RBtPa5ysix6IVsjTrDn4mBdONLfp4591iHk/edit#slide=id.p) Note: I am not here to advertise for eBird, but wanted to help fellow birders to do much more than birding & bird photography.
