We got back late this afternoon from our two week cruise to the Carribbean on NCL Norwegian Dawn. John H. thought of you on your birthday and was not able to wish you a Happy Birthday, but did have a drink in your honor in Aruba. Happy Birthday Lumpy. Cruise was ok had a VERY relaxing time (did nothing but read and shop). Very hot and humid down there. Did get burned and could not go back in the sun for days. For those of you who know me, did not find any deals :(. Leaving out of Boston did run in to some rough weather, seas were choppy but not to bad. For the most part it was sunny, hot, and extremely humid! 100 % humidity every day. I dont remember the Carribbean this hot and humid. When we left Curacoa, we ran into rough seas and very windy conditions. Thursday I was sick as a dog, had to keep the drapes pulled and spent most of the day in bed sleeping. Our trip back was not so good. Thought we were going to get off the ship quick and easy at 8:30 for walk off did not happen. The line went down oneside of the shlp through the Atrium into the pub, when we were finally cleared they had us go outside on deck all the way the length of the ship crossed over and back through the atrium to the other side of the ship to Security check point (which made no sense at all to me). When we reached security we were flagged and pulled out of line for non-payment of the bill. John had gone down at 2:00 AM Friday morning and paid the bill, but the security guy would not let us off the ship. He was trying to get confirmation from the pursers desk. I finally found our paid receipt and shoved it in his face and John told him that the bill his paid here is the receipt!. Meanwhile one of the officers had taken Johns bags and walked off the ship down the gang way with it to get us out of the way. John grabbed the bag and told him he was never sailing on this ship or this line again and stormed off. He was bull! We were not allowed to use the escaltors because our suitcases were too large and needed to have one hand free, so we waited for the elevator. Once we got to where we were going, they had us zig-zag around the terminal to customs. In/Out of customs in a breeze. Shared a cab with another couple to the air port. We were flying out of Tampa on United to Newark and on to Boston. They would not let John take his carry on because it was too big and proceeded to charge us an additional $85 for the bag! Great lets just get this thing going. We could not find the gate we were leaving out of our ticket said one thing, the monitor said another and the PA was annoucing a different location, finally got that taken care of and we were just getting ready to take off when this young mother sat in front with this little kid that was bouncing all over the place in the seat smashing into Johns knees, taking the shade on the window pulling it up/down, very annoying! He finally settled down and went to sleep. The mother had pulled the seat all the way back for the kid who slept in his mothers lap instead of the seat, she never put the seat up until we got to Newark. When we got on the plane for Newark (which was a full flight) we sat at the gate for an hour, the plane was having problems with the computer and was not downloading the inforation to the cockpit. They announced that by NJ law they can not have us seated on the plane for more than an hour. They had us deplalnce at 4:30 (our flight was suppose to leave at 3:30), they sent us to three different gates until they finally got us a flight to Boston. We had LA at Logan waiting to pick us up and go to the North End for a nice Italian dinner (was so looking forward to that, could taste it). She met us at baggage claim at 7:00 PM when we arrived. Drove to her house in Bellingham and stopped for subs on the way home. Certainly didnt taste like the north end :(. I felt bad that she had to wait there so long for us after working all day. I was up this morning at 4:00 AM got the stuff together and ready to go home back to sleep to 7:00 AM, by 8:00 we were on the road. Soooooooo looking forward to getting home. Made a couple of stops along the way (gas, Market Basket, Kitchen Store, Liquor Store, Shaws, KFC etc) got to the chalet about 4:00 PM, unloaded the car then spent time with Barbara and Johns dad (and of course Miss Libby). I just finish taking the stuff out of the suitcases (which is in a pile now on the bed and has to be hung up and put away. I was very surprised to see snow on the side of the road where it had been plowed. Will have to drop the pony car off this week before the weather turns bad at Robbies. Just have to figure what day will work best. On top of all this, I just find out our poor grand daughter is in the hospital with possible appendicitis. Hope she is feeling better, poor thing. So, I am exhausted and ready to crash.
