We got the 10.45am bus from Derry to Belfast yesterday morning. We arrived at 12pm. Went into the Europa Hotel and asked a member of the BGT crew if we had time to go and get a wee bite to eat, he said Sophie could go in for the 1 o clock audtions instead of 4pm if she wanted. So she decided shed do that instead, get it out of the way and eat afterwards. So he says youll need to go outside and around the Europa to queue. When we went round we couldnt believe the length of it already. We had to queue outside until 5pm until we were eventually took inside to a waiting room. By that stage we were frozen solid and starving. It was 6.30 before Sophie got to audition (stage 1). I had to go into the audition room with her as shes just 16. She sang her song, then the woman asked for a second song, then she asked for a third song!! So Sophie sang 3 songs for the 2 women. When she was finished they told her she was amazing and wed like to put you through to stage 2. So she had to sing again for the executive producer and it was filmed. He too asked for a second song. He asked her age, where she was from and all. Anyone who was put through to stage 2 were filmed. Then they watch back all the recordings after all the producer auditions are finished from all across Britain. Then they will select the acts they like to put in front of the judges auditions who are David Walliams, Amanda Holden, Alicia Dixon and Simon Cowell. Sophie has to wait now until the end of Feb to find out. If you dont hear from them by then, then it wasnt meant to be this time. Either way I cant tell you how proud of Sophie I am. She did her very best and gave it her all. She did it all completely off her own back, her own work. She did her own versions of the 3 songs she chose herself and she taught herself the guitar accompaniment. To do that is an achievement in itself. It was a big big ordeal yesterday, the crowds were overwhelming to say the least. Over 50,000 applied and came from all over the country as far as tipperary, omagh, tyrone...and Donegal ;) A MASSIVE THANKYOU to Sophies bestest friend Shannon for coming along yesterday and queueing in the cold, starving and waiting about. Sophie really appreciated having her there. We had good craic all the while, we even spotted Susan Boyle there :P !!! So thats the story to date, just gotta wait and see now. Hope Sophie gets the result she so truly wants! Wee day in bed for her today as she is still ill with a chest infection. Standing out in the cold for so long yesterday did her no favours...and I have no voice today and a killer throat :( ah well, all worth it!!
