We got this, and we want to share with our fans: The appiest pipul By Prof. PENKELEMESS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just heard that Germans take only eighth position in Europe, as far as their ‘appiness’ is concerned, and this was quite a shock to me. And that for two reasons: a. Those Germans DO, after all, produce those Mercedesses, Porsches, Audis and other BMWs, so much cherished by Nigerian ministers, especially so when armoured ! (I mean they are totally enamored by/to those cars!) b. And then, whenever I arrive at Murtala Airport a huge banner tells me: “the happiest people on earth live in Nigeria”. So what? I am now asking myself ! Me-seems material possessions are not all, all the more so when you (i.e. us Germans) have to suffer to produce those things. I mean: PRODUCE! Whereas Nigerians (who will soon ‘annex Germany’, as Prof Okey Ndibe keeps telling us) are just livin’ ‘appily ‘cos they have OIL and GAS a-plenty. They are thus blessed – and all 18o million of them, NO doubt allowed! - and will forever live ‘appily with their ‘resource curse’ – but this is just a statement by some – obviously – un’appy sociologists. Whereas Germans must have been cursed in the proper sense of the word ages ago, to have to go through this worldly purgatory – of putting those automobiles together for ever and ever. But then … their worrries may soon be over … the day Prof Ndibe’s prediction becomes reality. I am - and remain - hopeful! Why, you may wonder. Well, that fundamentalist preacher of German origin, who has been roaming Naijaland for so many years, has reassured me. I have been born again. THANK the Lord, Allah, Shango, Ogun, Oludumare and the rest of the Yoruba GODS. Very soon I shall belong to the ‘appiest vrowd on earth: Hallelujah! and SHUKRAN!
