We had 3 great fundraising events this season. One was in May waaaay up in Escanaba area in da UP. We have great representation in the Upper Peninsula with not only Vice President of the Board of Directors Nancy Gage (who is also busy as Senior Ride Captain for the PGR) and Board Director Ann Roman (who is also a Ride Captain for the PGR) but roughly 45 other very brave and hardy riders showed up and rode a 40 something degree ride just to raise money for our Michigan Veterans. A HUGE thank you to all that planned and participated in that event. A special thanks to the people from DTE that were on the committee for that ride! They raised over $5,000.00!!! I have just received word that the MPG Charity Ride that took place in Hell, Mi on July 19th raised over $7,000.00!!! Many thanks to the ones that organized and worked that event, including the good people from DTE ENERGY and their sponsors including UWUA local 223,DTE, GRP-Coolidge Service Center, Brighton Harley Davidson, Mr John Colone, Motor City Harley Davidson, Damsite Inn, the cool DJ Dennis Kovacs, and many others. Also the Committee members; Tom Banks, Brenda Grunwald, Rich Harkins, Cindy Ireland, and Dave Pettit. Last but not least our two favorite yoopers Nancy and Ann rode all the way down from the UP and participated in the Hell ride too! The totals from this year’s Heroes Ride are still coming in but we are on pace to surpass last year’s total!! A special thanks to our Heroes Ride committee; BOD members Viper, (Senior Ride Captain/PGR) JimyJ, Vito, (Ride Captain/PGR) Traveler, (Ride Captain/PGR) JimyJ, Seabee Lee, Victoria, Danny, JimmyK, TP (Ride Captain/PGR) MisChief, and Myself. This is not only a THANK YOU to all involved, but also to point out something we need to remember in this difficult transition period due to the PGR Lawsuit; We would not have been able to have raised all that money, and have these successful, safe, and fun events without members of the PGR. From Ride Captains (6 of 12 Directors on the Board of the MPG/MBHV are PGR Ride Captains) to the boots on the street PGR members, without them. Please remember this if you happen to explain the reason for the name change, or website change, to anyone you know. I still get upset just thinking about the lawsuit, and all the problems from it, but it doesnt change who we are, what we believe in, or why we do what we do. The Veterans dont care what we call ourselves, only that we care about, and are able to help them. Lets move on. NEVER FORGET! Chiefy
