We had a great day Sunday on the Couraguneen Historical Walk. We had around 70 people that did the walk young and not so young. From Australia and America and local people that were born here and living around the country that came home for the day. Michael Sheedy was our tour guide and he did a wonderful job. We had about 15 stops including 3 schools 2 castles 3 churches and 2 post offices and a carpenters shop at Cantwells where we got Ice Cream which was a welcome treat as well as seen all the old tools and carts made by the carpenter. We saw some wonderful scenery along the way and the Walls of Bawn ( O Meagher Castle ruins) was a spectacular site to see. We went to Buggaun Cemetery, Boulabane castle and Boulabane school and home to Couraguneen Church built in 1812. Afterwords we went back to the Norebrook Lounge for refreshments and a very interesting talk by Liam Doran.
