We had a great time with the new and improved team Driftworks at the first round of BDC. Things may not have gone perfectly for any of the team, but then no one can say we didnt put every effort into prepping for the event. We always knew the DW86 was going to be a handful. It has ridiculous amounts of grip! Phil was having to run 80psi cold in practice to learn how to react to the very different car. But then it is its first time out. The car has 51% rear biased weight, and a perfect contact patch on the awesome 265 Nankang NS2Rs. Phil qualified in 13, despite (as described in his own words) some of the weakest entries Ive ever done in 13 years of drifting. Then coming into the top 16, set to battle Jack Shanahan we had the tyres set at 20psi as we were expecting rain, and as the car has no damping in the driveline the shock of trying to spin up in 2nd to warm the tyres didnt work out so well, and we snapped the very heavy duty custom propshaft for the 2nd time. We were pretty gutted to have done it there and not at least make the first corner against Jack. Oh well, we have some plans to take some of the shock out of a clutch engagement, and were planning on some further testing before getting out to round 2. Thanks as always to the British Drift Championship for putting on a fantastic event under very difficult circumstances, and thanks to the whole Driftworks and DynoTorque team for the fun times :)
