We had a super meeting in the Palace of Westminster in London - TopicsExpress

We had a super meeting in the Palace of Westminster in London organised by FOE UK and chaired by Barbara Keeley, the Labour MP for Worsley & Eccles South in Greater Manchester where the IGas drilling site at Barton Moss is. Barbara is very opposed to unconventional gas. The event was to launch Friends of the Earth’s report ‘All that Glitters ? Why Britain’s fracking regulations are far from gold standard’. The meeting was attended by around 40 MPs and their advisers, including the environmental advisor to the Archbishop. They listened intently to the presentation and I was surprised to have a Tory MP thank me for the talk…shale gas is proposed for his constituency. There does appear to be the beginning of a shift in support for unconventional gas in UK.
