We had an awesome Heritage Walk session this evening. We were a group of some 40 kidz, their parents and other heritage enthusiasts. The otherwise desolate park was enlivened by the kids while we waited for more to join. Then a history sketch of the old Observatory by Dr. Achuthsankar S Nair , interesting snippets of information, got us all even more fascinated in the history and heritage surrounding the Observatory. Watching the moon, Jupiter and its three satellite through the telescope atop the old reservoir, the tallest point in Trivandrum town, was a memorable experience, especially for the young ones. The observatory staff also let us explore the room with the old 1840 make telescope used by Caldecott and Allen Brown, the astronomers from England....... A brief timeline of the observatorys history was distributed by Dr. Bina Thomas .
