We had on this forum discussed about a month ago tht the Planning Commission shud be moth balled. Im really glad tht it is finally happening. It was the greatest of Nehrus follies. The signifigance of this move is not just in the ending of a non performing institution, but the acceptance of a principle tht the govt can no longer control or plan the economy. India is coming of age. Ironically when the history of these times will be written 50 years from now, I think Modi will be remembered as the guy who might hv deposed Manmohan but who took the former PMs policies to their logical conclusion. For this move on th planning commission is part of the process tht Manmohan Singh started as Fin Min back in the 90s whn he dismantelled the Licence-quota raj.
