We had some brief rain today much earlier. At Jefferson Ave and 5th st. the storm drain on the West side is completely clogged. This is one of the best visuals Ive seen yet. There was an accumulation of maybe 10 plastic bottles/cans being kept out of the storm drain because of the water. Jefferson Avenue isnt West Ave or Alton Road. I absolutely 100% think this water sits for days because these storm drains are clogged with tons of bottles/trash/muck etc.... This is clear evidence. 10 bottles in a matter of several hours. Even on average of say 5 a day entering the drain that would be 5,475 items entering this one storm drain over 3 or so years (The storm drains havent been cleaned in several years)... Before spending $300 Million+ on how to pump the water back into the bay and other infrastructure work lets first fully clean our existing system and see how well it operates........#keepfighting :)
