We had the royal wedding... then came the royal baby... and now - TopicsExpress

We had the royal wedding... then came the royal baby... and now its the royal christening. The ceremony for Prince George will take place this afternoon in a private service at St James Palace. The three-month-old son of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge - whos third in line to the throne - is being baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Princes God Parents are due to be announced in the next few minutes. And if the national newspapers are to be believed, Norfolks Hugh van Cutsem is odds-on favourite. Van Custem is one of Prince Williams oldest childhood friends. So as we await the announcement I want to look at the relevance of Christenings. Do they matter any more or are they just an outdated practise? And are you a God parent? Have you kept the promises you swore at the font? Or are Christenings just an excuse for a day out and a free finger buffet? Is being a GODPARENT a privilege or a poisoned chalice? bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24627323
