We have 2 International MACNAS practitioners coming to Hereford to produce animated large structure workshops with established makers and artists in the locality. MACNAS are based in Galway, Ireland, and have produced work for a number of big events. The Wye Valley AONB Unit (area of outstanding natural beauty) together with the Desperate Men, based in Bristol, supported by Arts Council England and Wales, have created an opportunity for local artists and makers to learn new skills and develop new workshop practices. The aim of the workshops is to conceive and develop sculptures that will be created for the inaugural Wye Valley River Festival and the first Hereford River Carnival for 41 years. The sculptures will also form a foundation for a narrative in years to come. The Participants must have making and design skills and should prepared to continue working with the project into the future, there is no expectation to have a finished product at the end of the week. The workshops are to be held in a number of locations in and around Hereford with a with a base at the RNC Hereford. There is a maximum of 6 artists participating each day. The dates are: 7th – 11 April It is late notice but we would be grateful if you could spread the word get in touch if you are interested
