We have a client named Olivia who was having and continues to have difficulty with her mobility. She has fallen down her front steps twice in the last six months, which landed her in hospital both times. Thankfully, Olivia has an incredible volunteer through our Assisted Shopping program named Callan. The first time Olivia fell Callan got some concrete patio stones for Olivia to step up onto because her first step is much taller than the others and it worked well until Olivia fell off the very top step. At this point, Callan and her husband Bryce decided they wanted to build her a ramp. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough room in the front of her house to build an appropriate length ramp so they made a little one for her back door (completed yesterday). This way, she can now come and go from her house without assistance and in Olivia’s words – “it gives me my freedom again!” Many thanks to Callan and her husband Bryce for enhancing Olivia’s quality of life and making it safer for her to live independently.
