We have a special message to share from our Walpole Creamery Keene Scoop Shop Manager, Nancy Schofield! She led an amazing staff this year and we are so grateful for all the time and effort each and every one of our team members put in over the 2013 season!! "It has been two weeks since the Walpole Creamery Scoop Shop in Keene closed its window for the season, and I’ve had time to reflect on the wonderful opportunity I had to manage the shop for the summer. It is easy to say why it was a great experience: the product, the customers, and the staff. If you’re reading this, you don’t need me to tell you about how perfect Walpole Creamery Ice Cream is…you are already a fan! I have worked in the ice cream business for over 25 years, so I know my ice cream. Walpole Creamery is a cut above, made even more special by being a local business using local ingredients. Based on an unscientific survey, our best sellers this summer were Maple Walnut, Sweet Cream, and a tie between Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Mint Chocolate Chip. I was constantly asked what my favorite flavor was, and though I love them all, I have to go with Chocolate Peanut Butter. It was the staff favorite as well! The customers are what made the summer special. We loved all of our regulars…loyal WC fans who came by every day for their favorite flavor. We loved the look on the faces of the new customers who were tasting our ice cream for the first time. The most common comment was, “This is how ice cream should be.” We covered all demographics: senior citizens, families, business people having ice cream for lunch, high school and college students, and tons of children. I must also mention dogs, who were partial to our vanilla ice cream! It is a pleasure to work in the ice cream business. People are happy, friendly, and enthusiastic about ice cream; it was rare to see someone in a bad mood, but if they arrived that way, they left with a smile on their face! Finally, we had a wonderful, enthusiastic, energetic staff. I was so impressed with each of the young people that manned the trailer. They were wonderful with the customers, took the long rainy days and the grueling hot days in stride, and they always had a smile for the customers. They are all off at school now, and are all active members of their schools and community. We were fortunate to have them representing Walpole Creamery.
