We have a ways to go but our first full day was full of walks, hugs and another day of medical treatment. All of the animals have now received distemper, rabies, bordetella, and parvo vaccines as well as a physical exam, deworming, baths, nail trims and flea treatment. Every day they are greeted by a half dozen volunteers as one by one they get to stretch their legs and enjoy a roll in the grass on each of their three daily walks. Not to mention all the extra love, treats and of course peanut butter! Last night, five of our puppies had to be taken to our emergency veterinarian to receive 24 hour care were they received SubQ fluids, injected antibiotics and had to be syringe fed. They look like they might pull through but its still touch and go. A huge THANK YOU to everyone that stepped up for these dogs and cats and made a donation for their care!!! This is such a huge undertaking for our little shelter and we truly need everyones support! So many people are asking what we need. THANK YOU! Our #1 need for right now is truly monetary donations to cover extensive medical care and treatment. Additional needs are: -White flat sheets & white towels (white is more easily sanitized) -Mini Fridge (for medications/special food - can be used) -Window Air Conditioner (used is fine) -Fans (box, oscillating, etc - used is fine) -Treats (made in USA) -Puppy Food (Nutro or Blue - small & large breed) -6 ft. black leashes with metal clip -Newspapers -Plastic bags (shopping bags like walmart, etc) Thank you again for all your support!!! We will keep you posted on the animals statuses and conditions as things process and when they may be available for adoption or foster! animalfriendswestmoreland.org
