We have been asked whether it will be possible to convert a Scottish civil partnership to a marriage if you live elsewhere, without needing to visit Scotland. The answer is that it depends where you live. If you live in another part of the UK, you will need to come to a registration office in Scotland to convert (you can choose any office). If you live in another country, it may be possible to do the conversion at the UK consulate in that country. That will only be possible if the host country agrees to the UK consulate doing conversions. So far, Australia, Serbia and Russia have agreed - more are expected.
