We have been home for a little while and Bobby has been working on the stack of letters that he had waiting for him when we got home. He always answers the letters personally. He says that if they can take the time to write him, he can take the time to write them back...even if its short, its from his pen and not a form letter. With that in mind, we wanted to give you an idea of some that we get....and if anyone (men for men and women for women) would like to penpal with some of these...please let me know...Bobby can answer letters, but some of them are asking for an ongoing writing relationship...he just cant do that. Dear Mr. McGee, My name is James.....and right now Im in CWCC. I just read your story and it really got me thinking about my life. This is the 3rd time Ive been locked up and I really want it to be my last. My first 2 times down didnt care about anything out there. But now I got a son out there that I love and care so much for. But his mom wont let me see him. This is the hardest time Ive ever had to do. All I do is think about how bad of a father I was when I was out there. Its like, getting high was more important than my son was. And I really hate myself for leaving him out there. I know there is nothing I can do to change or make up for the past. Im so scared he wont want anything to do with me when I come home. And whenever I think about it, all I want to do is get high. How do you overcome wanting to get high when something bad happens? And Im not going to sit here and lie, I do still get high sometimes. I really want to change because I dont want my son thinking its cool to get high. I dont want this life for my son. I dont really have anyone out there I can write so I hope you dont mind me writing. I do read my Bible sometimes, but its hard for me cause my reading isnt the greatest. I need someone I can talk to and help me through this time, so I have a better chance in changing. You have been in the same place I am and I was hoping you could try and help me understand more. Its time for me to make a change in my life. And not having someone to write makes time that much harder to do. So I hope you dont mind me dropping you a letter every now and then.
