We have been homeless and taken in by friends several times over the years. We have also taken in the homeless several times in our life. But what do people do who dont have friends? Should we allow them get soaked at night in the pouring rain to teach them a lesson... hey... be a nice person and get some friends... right now. Get your act together, right now. Oh no? Cant do that? Cant suddenly kick your habit (chemical or just being a twit)? Not everyone who is homeless is as nice and altogether as you. Many are nowhere near the word nice. So should they be rained upon as extra punishment? The callousness of society in these instances is often, to me, the single biggest proof that we are not an enlightened humanity destined for greatness. Yes... a few compassionate people are doing something about the soaking wet in answer to this callousness, and thats a bright spot no doubt... but when is the last time *you* opened your home to the homeless? I know many of you personally who have done that, and most likely will again. God bless you. We look to government to solve these problems, but they can be solved one person at a time without waiting on a corrupt government to solve them.
