We have been working on Amelias phonological awareness to help her with reading and spelling. While there are some theories out there that suggest that children with DS can only learn to read by recognizing the word as a whole, this only puts the word onto their short term memory and they do eventually need to understand the phonological basis of letters and words in order to be able to read and spell. I found this alphabet board and thought that I would try it out. It does take Amelia a little while to match up the same letter in the board, but there are lots to look through.
