We have had a few glitches with our access to Facebook these past few days so have got a bit behind with our travel blog. Fleur is not able to get her tablet onto the Internet at all for some reason sous limited to the iPhone. We have the iPad also which comes in handy. Our only full day in Lucerne was the 8th. As our luggage had not turned up the first thing we did was walk to the old town and look at some shops to buy some new clothes as we on,y had what we were wearing. That proved easy enough for me as I got what I needed at one shop but to get everything for Fleur we had to visit a few places. The biggest issue seemed to be with jeans which generally have skinny legs here in Switzerland. Having got what we needed we headed back to the hotel. It was raining heavily and we were also treated to an electric storm with rumbling thunder and lightning. We quickly changed into warmer gear. Luckily I had two coats in my hand luggage. One a dress jacket and the other a wind and water proof job. Between them they kept us warm. Having decided to do the round trip to Mt Pilatus We caught a boat at about 11.40 and found nice dry seats outside so we could enjoy the scenery even thought was persisting down! The boat took us as far as Alpnachstad where we hopped on the worlds steepest cog wheel railway which took us to the top of Mt Pilatus. While we were up the mountain we walked the Dragon Path and started the club u to Oberhaupt but it was too miserable so we turned back. We bought a we things in the shop at the top including a Swatch wristwatch for Fleur and some other small things including a couple of postcards which Fleur wrote and we then posted from the top Piatus. The trip down s spectacular. You start off in a large cable car as far down as Frakmuntegg. There you can do the luge and there is the equivalent of our Spencer Park adrenalin forest but even though the weather had cleared, we had other things to go and look at back in Lucerne. The remainder of the trip downs by small cable car to Krienseregg and then on to Krienseregg at the bottom. We then caught the number 1 local bus back to Lucerne. As the day was now quite pleasant we walked around the town takin in some other scenery. We saw both of the historic old bridges, Kapell Brucke and Spreuer Brucke. We walked to the Lion Monument and the two spectacular churches. The first, with its two steep turrets was beautiful enough but if anything, the Jesuit Church on the other side of the river, although unimposing from the outside, is more spectacular inside. We had dinner at a Thai place very close to our hotel and it was lovely. The menu was only in German but the water was very kind clarifying things for us. Still no luggage and an early start tomorrow. Lucerne has been lovely.
