We have had our first set back, JT threw up his bottle and meds around 5 pm. He just now has settled down, but his heart rate and respiratory rate were high for quite a while. He sounds like he is growling as he breathes, but its because he has junk in the back of his throat he cant clear. The nurse gave him a dose of morphine and he seems to be drifting off into la la land. Some of his agitation may be to the rawness of the intibation tube, as well as when they had to laser out the cysts in his throat. I just want to pick him up and cuddle him and tell him that mommy will take his pain away, but I know the staff here is doing what they can to help him. On a good note, we were able to be taken off high flow oxygen and he is sating in the mid 80s (his normal) instead of the mid to low 70s with 3 liters at room air.
