We have just returned from the annual Teshuva Drasha of Rabbi Yissocherf Frand. 2,000 people came together in achdus. His theme this year was faith, Emunah. He emphasized that honiesty and integrity in business dealings is a sign of faith. One who cheats is not a believer, no matter how outwardly pious he appears. He told a story of our common days as students of the Ner Yisroel Yeshiva and of our dearly beloved and still missed Mashgiach Ruhani, Rav Dovid Kronglass, zecher tzadik livrocho. A boy went to a pool hall on the Saturday night between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rav Dovid was totally focused on repentance and doing things right especially during these 10 days. He called the boy into his office and asked him one question. Do you believe in Gd? If you truly believed then how could you play pool , a frivoulous and inappropriate activity in such a holy time? Rav Dovid lived on a spiritual plane so beyond others that it is hard to describe to someone who did not see him in Elul.But his image is before me and his is the only grave that I visit and pour out my heart . He went through so much and Gd was real to him, he had more than faith, he knew. May we all merit to be sealed in the Book of Life for a healthy new year. Peace in Israel and Harmony in Klal Yisrael.
