We have so many people to thank, so many memories, and lots of laughs at our little place on the corner of Westport Road, our bluestem is ten today. With no advertising and a dream we opened the doors and hoped people would come. It was a clear, sunny day on March 15th 2004 a day similar to today in 2014, and soon our first guests arrived one of the proudest moments in our lives. We have celebrated weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries, seen our team members move on and do great things on their own, get married, and many babies! We have eaten so many dishes together and drank amazing wines, tasted new cocktails, and devoured many petit fours. Our space grew from 13 tables with a 5-seat bar to a new bar adding much needed space adjoining the dining room. We wrote our first book, bluestem the cookbook and were honored to cook at the James Beard House and years later a best chef Midwest award. Our children call bluestem home and have napped many hours alongside us while we cooked in the kitchen. To everyone who has worked with us, supported us, and eaten with us words will never be long enough to express the gratitude we have today. We thank you and look forward to another ten years!
