We have some exciting news to S H A R E with all of you! Stone Soup Kitchens 7th annual Doggie Party is being held May 15th to help support the rescue efforts of Fighting for Dawn! Please read the details below: Food! Drinks! Dogs! May 15! Stone Soup Kitchen’s 7th Annual Doggie Party Get Set for a Whole Lot of Tail Wagging – and all for a good cause Bring your dogs, support Fighting for Dawn’s rescue efforts Seeking: Pups and hounds who play well with others! Yip-yap, it’s time for Stone Soup Kitchen’s seventh annual Doggie Party. All well-behaved pooches who usually stay home when their two-legged owners go traipsing about will again be the center of attention at the Grant Park café’s bow-wow-za bash. This year’s event is 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 15. The tail-wagging event is a low-key affair where “dog peeps” can enjoy SSK munchies, order a beer or cocktail at a cash bar, and relax on the enclosed patio. Bragging about your dog is encouraged, yet optional. Mostly, there’s a lot of laughing about how the furry loved ones are reacting to this strange occurrence. Many SSK customers are canine-friendly folks and café owner Sarah Rick never met a dog she didn’t adore. These are among reasons why the breakfast-and-lunch café hosts its annual dogs-plus-humans mixer. SSK was an original sponsor of Grant Park Dogs’ efforts to install dog cleanup bag dispensers in the neighborhood. This annual event raises awareness about and raises funds for a local canine rescue group. There’s no ticket price, but there will be a small silent auction and raffle drawings to support the local rescue organization Fighting for Dawn (fightingfordawn). Previous Doggie Parties have raised about $600 for groups such as Lifetime Animal Rescue and the Atlanta ResponsiBully Coalition. Freddie, a small-medium Jack Russell Terrier-hound mix, is a regular attendee, though she usually sticks close to the ankles of her owners. (Still, Freddie’s owners believe the SSK Doggie Party is a great way for her to improve her social skills). Most dogs in attendance romp around in a large enclosed parking lot. They sniff each other, slurp up water, slobber a little and scarf up treats. This year’s event will feature a photo booth where patient-type pooches can pose with their owners. Outfits are optional. Some furry guests wear their favorite kerchiefs or costumes, while plenty come au naturale.
