We have talked on this site a number of times about our good friend Ethan King. That’s Ethan in the photo. He’s a young guy doing incredible things. There are people in this world who talk about doing things, and then there are those who actually go about doing things. Ethan doesn’t just talk about things. He gets things done. A few years back Ethan had a desire to hand out soccer balls to kids in Africa that didn’t have access to them. And he had this idea and made it a reality before his 10th birthday. That’s right, by the time he was 10 he was having a positive impact on the lives of kids. He started and organization and called it Charity Ball. Amazing what he has done. We are not only proud of him, but proud to say he is a friend. Last year Charity Ball put together an event in Mozambique that involved a tournament, some coaching from Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic and the disbursement of countless soccer balls to local kids. Oh, and they built some water wells while they were at it. It’s amazing what Ethan does and I can’t say that enough. Ethan and I have been talking the last year or two about doing a t-shirt together. We’ve both wanted to do something, it was just a matter of when the time was right. And that time has come. We’re very pleased to finally be releasing the Bumpy Pitch x Charity Ball t-shirt. I’ll let Ethan explain a bit more about the photo and the shirt: “The image is of a typical kid in rural Africa who has nothing. These kids love soccer so much that they will use trash and twine to make a ball in order to play. It’s beautiful when kids who have nothing find a way to make a soccer ball from whatever they can get there hands on. However, we can do better – right? These kids deserve better. We can make it “more beautiful” for these kids by passing them a new quality ball. That’s the idea. The picture is statement – as beautiful as it is, we can make it more beautiful.” Amazing right! We’ll be donating to Charity Ball on every one of these shirts that we sell and that money will go to buying more soccer balls for the kids that Ethan is so passionate about supporting.
