We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their first day of EDS - TopicsExpress

We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their first day of EDS awareness month. It is wonderful to see all the posts across the internet and social media about awareness efforts. This month we are going to be introducing many new posters, guides to diagnosing EDS, and school screening initiatives. On the Education part, we are introducing a study identifies a hidden learning disorder co-morbid to EDS that mimics characteristics of the Autism Spectrum. Keep in mind 1 in 3 kids have some form of LD and, based on recent data, it is much higher in EDS. At the end of the month we will also announce a campaign that will get EDS information into every ER in the US in the beginning of 2015 and expanding it to reach out to Urgent Cares and Schools by 2016. Also at the end of the month will be the introduction of Autumns Law. This will be a state by state campaign that keeps children protected (most important); medical doctors will receive the tools to explore all options in accordance to current medical guides (many are greatly missed); parents will be given a procedure and rights handbook; CPS workers will be given the tools to be more compliant with state laws; and all parties are kept accountable during the investigation. Many abuse cases are closed or handled promptly, but in Autumns case there have been many violations involving rights and timelines. CEDSAs advocates always do their due diligence to insure that we never advocate for a person who has abused a child deliberately, nor do we condone any abuse. Enjoy your month and stay upbeat with your messages of awareness! Eugene Wilson Chairman.
