We invite you to meet JONAS OEHMAN, director of the film about Lithuanian partisans Tuesday November 25th at 7:00 p.m. at the Latvian Center, 11710 Third Ave NE, Seattle 98125 Please bring a potluck dish (a snack or a dessert) to share Jonas Oehman will discuss the making of the documentary film, THE INVISIBLE FRONT (that he directed with Vincas Sruoginis) and will present some of his research into the guerrilla war in Lithuania. The film has recently been shown in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles before wider distribution in 2015. Jonas is the founder of the support group Blue/Yellow, collecting and sending military equipment and monetary donations to Ukraine from some 5 cities in Lithuania and other points in Europe. He has accompanied shipments to Kiev on Lithuanian military transport and thus will discuss the situation as he saw it and the results of meetings with the Ukrainian defenders. Jonas Oehman is the director of other films about the postwar in Lithuania, Smogikai (Shock troops), (Im)possible retreat, Trajectories of Freedom (together with J. Sabolis), also The Green Musketeers which is in process. He has translated 6 Lithuanian novels and memoirs into Swedish. He has lived in Vilnius for some 20 years, taking part in Lithuanian civic and cultural life and traveling around the country to meet with young people to introduce them to their heritage and help them create their identity.
